The 2017 Pinots are a bit bigger and more expressive than the 2016's which is saying something. The 2017 harvest was marked by bursts of temperatures above 100 F in late August and early September. So, we had to decide if we wanted to pick before the heat waves to get lower sugar levels, avoid the risk of raisins or ride out the heat. We chose the latter and it paid off. We put the water on full blast in the vineyards to hydrate the vines though the heat. The vines rebounded when the weather cooled and their uptake of the water kept the sugar levels in check. With the mild days in the mid-to-latter part of the month we had an opportunity for more hang time and the ability to pick when we wanted. The resulting wines have a richness and balance you have come to expect from us. We hope you love them.
